Today's Question: I know I need to reconcile my bank account, but I have never received a bank statement. Where do I get one?
Answer: If you have never received a bank statement in the mail then you are probably set up for online statements with your bank. Log into your bank’s online banking platform using the credentials you created at setup. There are typically two locations where you can find the statement option. One is the top toolbar. Look to see if you see the word statement directly on the toolbar or in a drop-down on the toolbar. If you do, click here, and then it should have a drop-down box to select the statement period.
The second location where you might find the statement link is after clicking on the desired bank account. Click on the bank account to go into the detailed transactions. If a statement is available within this area you will see a drop-down near the bank account number. If you do, click here, and then it should have a drop-down box to select the statement period.
Once selected, download it to your computer. I recommend saving the bank statements in a folder on your computer so you can access them at any time. The bank only has them available for download for a certain amount of time.
And there you have it! For more information on how to use a bank statement for the reconciliation process, check out the full details here!
